The past five or six moths...

We have had a pretty awesome year so far, I wish I would have been better about writing about it.

Since I last wrote, we had two new nephews join us!  One on each side of the family.

Scott finished up his schooling in May, graduation was a wonderful day!  I am so proud of him.

He got the wave when they called his name!
Just a few days after graduation, Scott started an internship at an awesome ad agency.  He has loved it and has done really well!

Over Memorial Day weekend, Scott and I got to make the beautiful drive to the Oregon coast!  It was an impromptu trip (to go pick something up for his dad), and we were so excited to get to go!  It was over Scott's birthday weekend, what a fun way to spend a birthday! We LOVE road trips.

This quaint little restaurant in Hood River Oregon had the best fish tacos!

I have always wanted to see "that beach with the big rock"...this was a dream come true!

In June, my siblings Luke, Ash and I played in a concert together, we had a great time. It is always a privilege to perform together! My dad even joined us for a song on the guitar!

In June I got to go to California with my parents, sister, and little brother.  We went to Disneyland and had a blast!

By the look of it, I was the MOST terrified person on the Tower of Terror...

Cars Land had just opened and we loved it!

After getting home from Disneyland, I started to get sad because I knew that being back home meant that my little brother would be leaving on his mission in a few weeks.

He is very close to Scott and I- he was only about ten years old when I brought Scott home for the first time.  He's pretty much grown up hanging out with the two of us. We see him a lot, so I was pretty darn sad about the prospect of him leaving.

It was very tough, but the day came and we all said goodbye to him.  I have written him more times than I'll admit so far, and every time I hear any sort of news from him it makes my day!  He is going to Montreal, where he'll speak French.

It's been a busy couple of months, and we don't plan to slow down any time soon!  I'm so happy to have Scott by my side during the happy times, sad times, and everything in between.  So blessed.

Golden Boy

Today is Scott’s birthday, and he is turning 26 on the 26th, that means it’s his golden birthday! Only happens once!  His presents are wrapped in golden paper, his cake is on a golden plate, and now…I give you some of my favorite golden (endearing) things about Scott.

Say it with me, “His sense of humor!!!” Everyone who has spent at least 5 minutes with Scott has probably laughed out loud from something he said.

His positive outlook on life, nothing can get this boy down.  He is optimistic and resilient: a great combo.

The way he tells stories.  I would rather hear a story second-hand from Scott than from the original source, because he has a way of completely captivating me!

His service-minded attitude.  He drops everything to help someone in need; he is a wonderful neighbor.

The way he interacts with children- people often tell me they think Scott will be the most amazing father someday, and I agree!  He is loved by children everywhere he goes.

His bright wide smile that still gives me butterflies.

The jokes he makes up…”What do you call it when a cowboy jumps really high?”…”A hiccup”

His strong work ethic.

This one’s selfish…but Scott is golden because he often tells me I’m adorable.  Melts my heart.

His desire to learn new things.

The way he isn’t afraid to share his beliefs; he wants people to be as happy as him.  His favorite scripture says it all, “Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you." (1 Peter 3:15)

His creativity; life is never dull with him around.

His knack for always ordering amazing things at restaurants.  When will I learn to just ask him to order for me?
I’m sure thankful for you Scott, this is the 8th birthday I’ve celebrated with you, and I look forward to mmmmmaaaannnnnyyyyyyy more to come.  You’re my favorite!

April So far

My birthday came just in time, I was craving two things: spending time with Scott and having a day free from homework!
I'm a fire hazard!
We bought a car that day, so I guess that's probably one of the biggest  presents I'll ever get.  Unfortunately, the reason we had to buy a car was I totaled my beloved little red one in an accident a few weeks ago :(  It was scary, I'm thankful I wasn't hurt.  Scott picked us out a fantastic new ride and negotiated the price like a pro.

This week I have a few more projects to turn in, and then I graduate on Friday! I'm completely excited.  I don't recommend taking 7 classes at once if it can be avoided; I am running on empty, very drained.  At least I'll be done though!

    Quarter (of a century)

Yes, 25.  I am actually excited about this age, for some reason I usually love being 'odd number' ages.  I don't know why?
Last week was a blast, my sweet husband is so creative, he makes life extremely fun.  I had no idea he was planning a party for me, it was so great to see friends and family!  Such a surprise!!!
Love my siblings, I'm so glad I could see all of them on my birthday.  Just look at us, man we've grown up!

Little niece Claire is sure growing up too!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

    The little one is one

Happy first birthday to the one-and-only grandchild! (on my side)
It was a big day for her...I think she was pretty exhausted by the time we made her take a pic with us :)
Simple things I've noticed about her:
She enjoys eating food more than anyone I know
Her eyes are as big as mine
She loves her uncle Scott a lot
    She's got a great sneeze
Her clothes are cuter than mine

    Scott's Day

The day before Scott's b-day we traveled back from Fallon Nevada. We had been there for 4 days for a family wedding and surprise birthday party for his mom. We had a GREAT time. I love going to visit his hometown, although the talk there is often about 'bunny blasting' and I get terrible allergies. Aunt Diane taught me how to make strawberry jam and we brought a bunch home with us. The wedding was beautiful, it was neat to see Grandpa Hendrix perform the ceremony. Can you believe both of Scott's Grandpa's can marry people?

Unfortunately the entire TOWN got a nasty 24-hour flu virus!!! Seriously it sounds like at least 20 people got sick. It missed Scott but I got sick on Tuesday...his birthday. I threw up every two hours on the dot, I was miserable :( (I am a self-admitted wimp).

We tried to make the best of it. I gave him a few gifts, the grand finale being George Strait tickets. CAN'T WAIT WE LOVE THAT GUY. Scott wanted to try out our barbecue so he cooked himself a steak, corn on the cob, and grilled pineapple. I almost threw up from the smell, but it looked nice. Then we watched Mall Cop, which cracks me up to no end.

Anyways, just wanted to let you know we really did celebrate Scott's birthday, however pathetic the party might have been. We tried :) (My family gave Scott the apron- I love it!)

    I am older than Scott

We had fun celebrating yesterday. We had a great dinner at the Mandarin, peeked at Nordstroms- where I was almost tempted to take home a pair of green heels that wouldn't match a single thing that I own, then picked up a slice of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory.

We ended the night watching a movie of my choosing...Penelope (which I highly recommend).

Scott got me some really sweet gifts:

We are going to see Wicked next week :)

I've been eyeing this Pier One music stand since December...I am so excited to now own it!

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful phone calls, emails, and texts! My phone was constantly beeping, ringing, and vibrating and it made my day!

    Here's the Story!

    Wow.
This week has definitely changed my life! All of a sudden I have a thousand decisions to make! I LOVE IT!

My 23rd birthday was Wednesday. I was under the impression Scott was in California with his aunt and uncle for work. He called me once Tuesday, and left a quick message Wednesday. I figured he didn't have cell service where he was, so I didn't think anything was fishy about it.

My stake is preparing to do the play Savior of the World, and we had a rehearsal from 6-9pm that night. At the end of the rehearsal the entire cast of over 100 people sang happy birthday to me! It was awesome. My cute singles ward had also got me a cake :) I have such great friends!

As people started to leave, a few friends came in and told me I had to go to their car with them. I was talking to the directors at the moment, and told them I couldn't right then. After about 10 minutes, my neighbor came up and said, "Heather. There is a LIMO outside for you."

    :)

My stomach dropped and I started shaking and feeling excited and nervous! I knew it must be Scott. THIS WAS IT! I ran outside and dozens of the cast were lining the sidewalks and they cheered when I came out!

I saw a red carpet leading up to a beautiful limo...and there was Scott down on both knees. He looked incredible! I started crying the moment I saw him! I jumped up and down and ran across the lawn to him. He told me that you never know when life is going to change (he quoted that from a poem I wrote him 4 years ago). He said I had changed his life, and that it was time to change ours.

As he put the gorgeous ring on my finger FIREWORKS went off across the street. These weren't just sparklers...I'm talking beautiful-illegal-80 foot high fireworks. It was perfect.

My family was there and so was his brother's. After lots of hugs, we drove to the Salt Lake Temple in the limo.

We are so happy! We have been working on making a decision about our future since Christmas, and it truly feels like this is exactly what we should be doing at this point in our lives. THANK YOU to everyone for supporting us all these years. Your love means THE WORLD to us.
